QSIA is committed to developing the skills, leadership and capability of Queensland’s seafood industry. Through bursaries, workshops, training programs and professional development opportunities, we aim to support current and future industry leaders to grow, connect and succeed.
The Queensland Seafood Industry Association (QSIA) is proud to offer two Seafood Directions 2026 Bursaries to support emerging leaders, innovators and contributors within Queensland’s wild-caught commercial fishing sector.
Seafood Directions is Australia’s premier seafood industry conference, bringing together commercial fishers, seafood businesses, researchers, policymakers and industry leaders from across the country. The event provides a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts, explore emerging issues and innovations, build professional networks and contribute to the future of Australia’s seafood industry.
Through this bursary program, QSIA aims to increase participation from Queensland’s commercial fishing sector and support operators, industry advocates, leaders and the next generation.

What the Bursary Includes
Successful applicants will receive:
• Full registration to Seafood Directions 2026
• Ticket to the National Seafood Industry Awards Dinner
Please note: Travel, accommodation, meals and incidental expenses are not included and remain the responsibility of the applicant.
The Bursary Aims To:
• Strengthen industry capability and leadership
• Support professional development and exposure to national best practice
• Encourage participation in sector-wide dialogue, innovation and policy discussions
• Build the capacity of future advocates, operators and industry contributors
Who Should Apply?
Applications are encouraged from individuals who are actively involved in Queensland’s wild-caught commercial fishing sector and demonstrate a commitment to the future of the industry.
This may include:
• Commercial fishers and vessel operators
• Crew members
• Seafood business owners and managers
• Young industry participants
• Emerging leaders and innovators
• Industry contributors seeking to expand their knowledge and networks
Eligibility
Applicants must:
• Be currently working in, or directly supporting, Queensland’s wild-caught commercial fishing industry
• Demonstrate a commitment to industry development, stewardship or leadership
• Be available to attend the full Seafood Directions 2026 conference
